Jazz in Martinborough is about promoting youth jazz and young musicians. Well here is another one.

Cheviot Fraser is a 14 year-old musician who will be playing solo at the Jazz Festival.

Cheviot has been mucking about on musical instruments since he was five. He plays the piano, trumpet and jams along on guitar/mandolin/bass very happily. He learns some classical piano from his mum (Kate Marshall, also playing in the festival with Hard Candy), attends the summer mass course in Wellington each summer and finds improvising more natural than reading. He likes Count Basie, Duke Ellington, Stevie Wonder and Glen Miller.
