Dixie Street Jazz Band

The Aussies are coming back to the festival. Favourites of the first Jazz in Martinborough festival in 2011 the Dixie Street Jazz Band are returning to perform at this year’s event. The bunch of thoroughly decent, well-ripened” jazz musicians are bringing their brand of traditional jazz to the Friday night show of the festival.

Dixie Street is a band of Iarrikins (Don Blainey, Geoff Speed, Derek Dalton, Rod Andrew, Gordon Coulson, Bruce Gourlay, Peter Milburn) who formed an ensemble from some of the very best musicians from various States in Australia.

Their music combines piano, sousaphone, banjo, drums, trombone, trumpet and reeds that gets your feet twitching and toes tapping. Dixie Street play musical gems from around 1900 that simply grab your whole body and give it a good shake. The musicians bring to their performances ample quantities of good humour that overflows to their audiences, young and old.
