JIM has always had a special relationship with Christchurch musicians – our first festival in 2011 incorporated five bands from the devastated city – and this year Chris Wethey brings his quartet Le Choix: Emma Hughes-Martinet – vocals/accordion, Catherine Wells – piano, Chris Wethey – bass, Jesse Hughes – drums.

Le Choix hails from both Christchurch and the Parisian countryside. The quartet’s fiery singer, Emma Hughes-Martinet, is eating for two while the rest of the band avoid her gaze and tip-toe on egg shells.

Expect to hear anything from Gretchen Parlato, David Binney and Robert Glasper to the Beatles and Britney Spears, with original compositions from various members of the band and a few traditional french songs thrown into the mix.
